Abstract

For centuries, the art of Taiji remains one of the most important components of Chinese culture, recently this art has begun to gain high popularity in the West, as doctors advise applying it as one of the effective ways to prevent the pressure suffered by man in modern societies. The term Taiji in the Chinese language means "the absolute supreme power." In Chinese culture, the concept of ultimate supreme power has been associated with the concept of "Bin Yang", which says that one can see a dynamic duality in all the surrounding things, such as seeing the positive and the negative, the light and the dark.
John Cheng (1999) indicates that Taiji is considered a peaceful form of relaxation and of martial arts, which have their roots in the ancient Chinese. (19:11)
The Martial Arts Institute (2000 AD) adds that the Taiji exercises are a combination of relaxation and breathing exercises, which aim at stimulating the internal energy of the body, strengthening the immune system and the nervous system, and regulating metabolism (25)
While Kreg Mucci (1999) assumes it as an ancient Chinese exercise, that aim at achieving a balance between minds, body, and spirit (20: 155)
